If you have ever posted observations or identifications on iNaturalist, your contributions help fill in our global understanding of biodiversity. Deleting your account will delete your observations and identifications, which means they will no longer be available for scientific use.
If your observations are "Research Grade," they may be more widely used in research. Casual observation such as those missing locations, dates, or media, or of captive animals or cultivated plants, are less frequently used in research.
On a personal level, your observations form a life list of species you've encountered. Perhaps you have more to add since you last used your account, or you're at a stage in life where you want to explore nature more.
We hope you'll stay, but you're free to delete your account.
