Can I make private observations that aren't shared publicly?

iNaturalist is fundamentally about sharing and collaboration, and all observations posted to iNaturalist are publicly viewable by anyone on the internet. About the only thing that can be hidden is the location of the observation (see our FAQ about geoprivacy). 

We understand that some people want or need more privacy and secrecy than iNaturalist can offer. If so, then iNaturalist is probably not the platform for you.
