The app has two basic modes: Standard and Advanced.
Standard Mode is the default and is designed to present fewer options and information, and be more welcoming to a new iNaturalist user.
Advanced Mode is designed for those more familiar with iNaturalist. If you want more control over your app experience, advanced mode makes it easier to access all options for making new observations, displays more information in List View, and allows you more control over which screen you see when taking or importing photos into the app.
In both modes you can access your full Account Settings
To toggle between the two modes, open up the Settings screen in the side menu. The top toggle allows you to turn Advanced Mode on and off.

Standard Mode
This is the default mode for iNaturalist. The green button at the bottom displays the iNaturalist AI Camera icon (blue arrow), and on the Me screen a minimum of information is displayed if you're in List view (red arrow):
To access all possible options for making a new observation, press and hold the AI Camera icon:
When making a new photo observation you will be taken to the Match Screen, which shows your photo alongside photos of iNaturalist's top species suggestion, a map of that species near the observation's location, and other identification suggestions for your photo:
Observation Details pages also sport a simple layout with no separate tabs for Activity and Details. Just scroll down to access everything.
Advanced Mode
Tap the green button at the bottom to display all options for making a new observation (blue arrow), and on the Me screen more information about each observation is displayed if you're in List view (red arrow):
In Settings you can also choose which screen you see after you take or import a photo:
By default you will see the ID Suggestions screen (see below) but in Settings you can also choose to see the Match Screen (like in Standard Mode) or go directly to the Edit Observation screen.
Observation Details screens are split into two tabs: Activity and Details (red circle):
Finally, in Settings you will also see options for scientific and common names display, as well as a language chooser for the app:
