By default, iNaturalist Next only shows you the iNaturalist AI camera as an observation option. When you open the AI camera, you can access your device's gallery by tapping on the gallery icon in the lower right-hand corner.
However, you can open up the full suite of observation creation options in the app by opening the side menu and tapping on Settings.
On the Settings screen you will see these two options under "Observation Button":
Choose the bottom option ("All observation options"), and you'll now see the AI Camera button has turned into a + sign. Tap on that to choose an observation option. An explanation for each option appears above
